Verndale is a city in the west part of Aldrich Township in Wadena County, Minnesota. The community was settled as early as July of 1876. Verndale was incorporated as a village on May 24, 1883, and separated from Aldrich Township on March 11, 1919. Verndale's population once was around 1,500, but today it is approximately 570.

The community is located on US Highway 10 and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

The leading businesses in Verndale include manufactured housing, horse sales and agriculture. The community is fiercely proud of its winning high school sports teams and the school's high academic standings.
